Solas is a well known boat manufacturer that has been creating aluminum and stainless steel boat props for over two decades. The company offers numerous propellers to choose from, enabling any boat owner to find a suitable and affordable propeller for his or her boat. Why Stainless Steel?
Boat props can be made using either aluminum or stainless steel. However, despite the fact that stainless steel propellers can be pricey, many boat owners are opting to have these installed on their boats. What are the Options?
Solas makes five lines of stainless steel props. These are the Lexor, Scorpion, Rubex, Titon and Saturn. Most of these propellers only have three blades, although the Rubex L4, Rubex HR4 and HR Titan 4 all have four blades.
Most of the stainless steel propellers are labelled as being suitable for all around performance. This means that they are ideal for both salt water and freshwater sailing. However, a boat that is used for extensive cruising should be outfitted with the HR Titan 4, as it is specifically made to deliver a powerful thrust, smooth performance and high speed.
High performance boats should be outfitted with high performance boat props. Some good Solas boat props of this nature include the Scorpion and Titan props. These propellers also have excellent fuel economy.
While all Solas boat props are well made and good quality, some are more suitable for certain boat types than others. Before choosing a boat propeller, it is important to consider what type of sailing is to be done and the boat’s weight, among other factors. By choosing a propeller wisely, a boat owner can rest assured that the propeller will perform satisfactorily and last for many years.
